Alliance Bible Fellowship of Boone will offer Kid Zone Family Nights Monday through Thursday, July 7 through 10.
A 75-minute production related to the value of self-control will begin at 7:00 p.m. each night and the whole family is invited to attend.
“It’s a very practical, lighthearted approach to values all parents want their kids to have,” said Beth Jesel, director of children’s ministries at Alliance.
The nights are free and open to the community with no registration required. Attendees need not be members of Alliance or of any church.
Each night’s activities will include skits, music, creative storytelling and prize giveaways. Although it is geared for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, the program will be fast paced and entertaining for children of all ages, their parents and grandparents.
“There are different levels of humor, so there is something for everyone. It’s very captivating that way,” Jesel said.
The four consecutive nights offer an alternative to vacation bible school, where parents drop their kids off and pick them up later. “The idea is to keep the family together,” Jesel said, “give them something meaningful [they] can take home and hopefully make a positive impact on kids and whole families.”
Kid Zone Family Nights embrace the philosophy that parents have the most influence in their children’s lives and if they can see what their children are learning, they can reinforce it at home.
“We believe you can’t teach a kid a value in one hour a week,” Jesel said. “We’re equipping parents to teach their kids the virtues most parents want them to have.”
The curriculum used for this and other children’s programs at Alliance comes from a church in Georgia. “The curriculum for the weekly children’s program teaches a virtue every month,” said LeAnn Gregory, a member of the Kid Zone Family Nights production team.
The production based on the value of self-control will be “teaching kids self-control in a fun way,” Gregory said. The nights will be kept to 75 minutes so families can have plenty of time to get home and put kids to bed, she added.
Prizes for the nightly giveaways will include a kid’s motorized scooter, a grill, a garden birdbath, T-shirts and many other smaller prizes.
Alliance Bible Fellowship of Boone is located on the Highway 105 Bypass across from Caldwell Community College.
