SOLD!! Town of Boone Purchases Downtown Post Office for $1.25 Million
At a press conference last Monday, Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson, along with Mayor Pro Tem Lynne Mason, Town Manager Greg Young, Boone Historical Preservation Commission Chair Bettie Bond and Historical Preservation Commission member Chuck Watkins announced from the steps of the Downtown Boone Post Office that the Town of Boone purchased the historic property on Friday, September 19. Green Machine—First NAHB Green Certified Home
in High Country Nears Completion
William McDonough, winner of three U.S. presidential awards for green design and construction, said that his mission will not end until all homes are like trees—that is, when homes actually help the environment. His words ring true to the hundreds of National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) members who are trying to build green homes, as well as to the many NAHB subchapters, such as High Country Homebuilders, who are trying to bring green building to their own respective regions.
