Mineral City Heritage Festival Saturday
Downtown Spruce Pine plays host to the annual Mineral City Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The festival features children’s activities, food, living history demonstrations and lots of arts and crafts vendors.

Whitetop Mountain Molasses Festival Sunday
Satisfy your sweet tooth at the Whitetop Mountain Sorghum Molasses Festival in Whitetop, Va., on Sunday, October 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Rogers Fire Department.
Watch the processes of molasses and apple butter making, and buy plenty of the treats to take home. This traditional mountain festival also features a craft show, live music with some of the region’s best mountain music makers, dancing and a chicken BBQ dinner. Admission is free.

Carolina in the Fall Festival October 17 to 18
Held on the Shepherd Farm in North Wilkesboro, the Carolina in the Fall Festival is described as a “family atmosphere music festival.” The event takes place on Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18, and is hosted by the Shepherd family and The Kruger Brothers.
The sixth annual festival features a new North Carolina Banjo Contest, plenty of bluegrass music, instrument workshops, a children’s area and more. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate for Friday and $20 in advance and $25 at the gate for Saturday.
