The Watauga County Cabbage Queens are celebrating their 10th sparking anniversary this holiday season, raising money and awareness for OASIS and domestic violence prevention. The Cabbage Queens are a local philanthropic group of women dedicated to having the most fun possible while raising money for people in need. Their participation in the Boone parade and their annual rocking Wanda Ball have raised more than $35,000 for OASIS.
The Cabbage Queens are always a hit at the Boone Holiday Parade, this year on Saturday December 6. They’ll be decked in green satin gowns, red bouffants and glittering tiaras, waving regally as they entertain the crowd.
The next week is their wild Wanda Ball—the most anticipated party of the holiday season.
The 8th annual Wanda Ball is Friday December 12, from 8:00 to midnight at the historic Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock. The Swingin’ Richards will provide music for dancing, Gadabouts Catering will provide hors d’oeuvres and a full cash bar will be available. Dress is semiformal thrift shop chic. Tickets are available in advance only—and they always sell out—for $35 per person. Purchase tickets at OASIS. For more information, call 828-264-1532.
