Educational Institutions Tighten Their Belts
The word has come down from Raleigh to school districts, community colleges and universities across the state: your budget has been cut by up to 4 percent. In an effort to help offset an estimated state budget deficit of more than $1 billion, Governor Mike Easley has instructed state agencies to cut up to 5 percent from their expenses this year, and education hasn’t dodged the statewide cutbacks. No matter how accustomed to success ASU football fans have become, it doesn’t get any easier for the Mountaineer football team to win championships. Despite making it to Round 2 of the 2008 playoffs, ASU has a hard road ahead in vying for a fourth consecutive national title.
