Ashe County Little Theatre Auditions January 26
It’s a new year and Ashe County Little Theatre begins a new season with a new play—written by local resident Bill Baker—about life in Ashe County during the ‘20s. Auditions will take place for Dinner Is at Noon, the first play of the 2009 season, at the Ashe Civic Center on the Monday, January 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Produced by Vernon Taylor, Dinner Is at Noon will be directed by Michael Yelton. The main cast consists of five adult men, two women and a boy around 12 years old.
R.C., the waiter: A happy-go-lucky young man, in his early 20s, with a hidden intelligence born from hard work.
Norman: A rich, short, portly elderly New York banker by trade, who is obnoxious, demanding and full of himself.
Mr. Wilson: A middle-aged man who is a retired-doctor-turned-hotel-manager.
Henry Whitter: A musician in his mid 30s with a carefree attitude. He plays a guitar.
G.B. Grayson: A musician in his mid 30s that is quiet and subdued and almost blind. He plays a fiddle.
Ray: A young, not-too-well-educated barefooted boy around 12
Mrs. Wilson: Slender, middle-aged, highly educated woman with a very heavy French accent and an aristocratic air.
Elizabeth: Norman’s wife, who is a bit pompous and overweight elderly lady.
But that’s not all. Clogging groups and a mountain music band are needed as well. And as always, Ashe County Little Theatre is looking for people to help with set construction, costuming and other tasks.
