Photo by James FayA record crowd of 8,350 basketball fans packed ASU’s Holmes Center to the rafters for last Monday’s match-up between the Mountaineers and the Stephen Curry-led Davidson Wildcats. Although a solid team for years, the Wildcats’ Cinderella run through last spring’s NCAA tournament raised Davidson’s profile throughout the country and prompted the record-setting contest. ASU’s sub-par shooting from both the free-throw and three-point lines helped Davidson survive multiple Mountaineer runs in the second half for a 70-52 road victory.
