New Family Counseling Services Available in Crossnore
Area families have a new resource to help deal with the challenges of life. The Crossnore School’s counseling services are now available to the public.
“Every family has its share of problems whether it is divorce, the growing pains of blending together two families, a child or youth struggling in school, coping with a chronic illness, the trials of parenting a defiant teen, a teen battling an eating disorder and everything in between,” said Dr. Phyllis Crain, executive director of The Crossnore School.
“I frequently get calls from mothers in our region who request my recommendation for where their family can turn for quality assessment, confidential and effective counseling for children and youth as well as family counseling,” she said. “It simply occurred to me a few weeks ago that the counseling team in which I have the highest level of confidence happens to be our very own here at The Crossnore School.”
The group includes the following full-time licensed therapists: Leigh Kadans, LCSW, Miki Gordon, NCC, LPC, Melissa Parlier, LMFT and Maria Russell, LPC.
The counselors are set up to accept most insurance providers and Medicaid.
“Every family has problems. Now there is help, hope and healing—right around the corner,” Crain said.
Families can discuss available services and make appointments by contacting Sharon Smith-Wise, assistant executive director, or Maria Russell at 828-733-4305.
