Hayes School of Music This Week

After about a month off, the Hayes School of Music’s schedule of concerts returns this week. Set aside a night to enjoy the talents and diversity of one of the best music colleges in North Carolina.
Unless otherwise indicated, concerts take place in the Broyhill Music Center on the ASU campus. For more information about any of these performances, call 828-262-3020.
Student Cello Recital Thursday
Rebecca Wade, a graduate student of the Hayes School of Music, will perform a cello recital on Thursday, January 22, at 8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Student Violin Recital Sunday
Vanessa Chumbley, a sophomore psychology major at ASU, will perform a recital on the violin on Sunday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Student Voice Recital Sunday
Hayes School of Music graduate student Craig Brown performs a voice recital on Sunday, January 25, at 8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Harmonia Baroque January 27
Harmonia Baroque is a 5-piece ensemble dedicated to the music and instruments of the Baroque period. The group performs on Tuesday, January 27, at Rosen Concert Hall.
Hayes School of Music faculty and community members join to form Harmonia Baroque, a 5-piece ensemble dedicated to the music and instruments of the Baroque period of the 17th and 18th centuries. The ensemble performs at Rosen Concert Hall on Tuesday, January 27, at 8:00 p.m.
The ensemble features Hayes School of Music faculty members Alicia Chapman on Baroque oboe, Nancy Schneeloch-Bingham on Baroque flute and mezzo-soprano Priscilla Porterfield as well as Michael Bell on harpsichord and Barbara Blaker Krumdieck on Baroque cello. The Harmonia Baroque members play on exact replicas of 18th century instruments. Admission is free. For info, call 828-262-3020.
