The Wailers Return To Legends To Perform Exodus
Reggae superstars The Wailers will perform Bob Marley’s classic album Exodus in its entirety, followed by a set of the Jamaican’s greatest hits, at Legends on Wednesday, January 28.
While recovering from a gunshot wound received during an attack on his life by a group of unknown assailants, Jamaican reggae superstar Bob Marley retreated to the safety of London, where he recorded the majority of the tracks for his now legendary album Exodus.
On Wednesday, January 28, at 9:00 p.m., reggae greats The Wailers will take the stage perform Exodus in its entirety, followed by a set of Marley’s greatest hits at Legends in Boone.
Released on June 3, 1977, the aptly titled work is arguably Marley’s best-loved and most critically acclaimed album. Time magazine proclaimed the 10-song work the Best Music Album of the 20th Century in 1998. The BBC awarded “One Love/People Get Ready,” Marley’s ode to togetherness featuring verses from the popular Curtis Mayfield song, the Song of the Century. In 2003, the album was ranked number 169 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
Exodus includes the songs (in album order) “Natural Mystic,” “So Much Things To Say,” “Guiltiness,” “The Heathen,” and “Exodus” on side one and “Jamming,” “Waiting In Vain,” “Turn Your Lights Down Low,” “Three Little Birds” and “One Love/People Get Ready” on side two.

A deluxe edition of the album was released in 2001 that features several alternate versions of the original tracks, outtakes and live tracks.
Since Marley’s death from cancer in 1981, The Wailers have toured the world over, performing his songs for throngs of loyal fans young and old. The band has been a favorite in the High Country, performing several times at Legends during the last decade.
In the current incarnation of The Wailers, famed bass player and producer Aston “Family Man” Barrett soldiers on as the lone link to Marley. Barrett’s bass lines were instrumental to Marley’s music and remain the foundation on which the band is built.
Tickets to The Wailers’ Exodus show at Legends are $10 in advance for students and $14 for the general public.
