Carolina Ballet is recognized as one of the top ten ballet companies in the country. The company’s 30 dancers represent numerous countries, including Russia, Moldavia, Cuba, Uruguay, Hungary, Canada, Armenia and China, and its ballet master hails from Romania. Carolina Ballet’s Dancers in Schools outreach program presents fifth grade students with a comprehensive educational program emphasizing healthful living, the development of critical and analytical thinking, cooperation and teamwork. It fosters creativity, encourages interest in the arts and challenges students to think in new ways.
The production is sponsored by cARTwheels, a project of the NC Arts Council supported though funding by the NC General Assembly. cARTwheels is an educational performing arts touring program that ensures that third, fourth and fifth grade students in the state experience free professionally staged opera, dance, theater and music performances at quality venues before they leave elementary school.
