Rave On: A Tribute To Buddy Holly at Broyhill Center in Lenoir Saturday

Singer-songwriter Don McLean immortalized February 3, 1959, in his song “American Pie” as “the day the music died.” The plane crash that occurred in Clear Lake, Iowa on that snowy evening may have killed 22-year-old rock star Buddy Holly, as well as rising talents James “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Ritchie Valens, but the music made by the lanky, bespectacled Texas native is still very much alive 50 years later.
This Saturday, February 7, the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir will host Rave On: A Buddy Holly Tribute. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $29 for single platinum seats, $26 for single gold seats and $18 for students and children.
Billy McGuigan has received national acclaim for his portrayals of the legendary Buddy Holly. Audiences continue to be awed by his realism, sincerity and talent. His interpretation of Buddy Holly has taken him all over the United States and has led to incredible box office successes.
McGuigan and his fellow cast members bring Holly’s life story and the sounds of the late 1950s to the stage with energetic live performances of immortal Holly classics including “That’ll Be The Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” “Everyday” and more.
