Tough Man Contest Returns to Armory February 13 and 14
Have you been racking your brain trying to figure out where to take your sweetie for Valentine’s? Look no further because the Toughest and Baddest Brawl is returning to the Boone National Guard Armory on Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14, at 7:00 p.m.
Forget about those mixed martial arts shows where guys pull out every trick in the book. The Toughest and Baddest Brawl consists of three one-minute rounds of smack-talking, swinging and slugging between local High Country competitors ages 18 to 40. The winner from each of the three weight classes will take home $600 in cash, as well as a trophy and the undisputed bragging rights. For a chance to enter the ring and show their stuff, brawlers must sign up at Watsonatta Western World in downtown Boone. There is no entry fee.
Only amateurs are permitted to participate in the brawl. Weight divisions for the contest are middle-weight (140 to 160 pounds.), light heavy-weight (161 to 185) and heavy-weight (over 185). Contestants will be provided with 16-ounce boxing gloves, headgear and other protective wear. A referee will be in the ring throughout to monitor the fights.
Kids can also get in on the action at the Toughest and Baddest Brawl by serving as round card holders.
Tickets for the Toughest and Baddest Brawl are on sale now at Watsonatta Western World for $14 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Adult tickets will be $16 at the door. Two-night tickets are also being sold for $25 in advance. Watsonatta is located at 711 W. King Street. For more info, call 828-264-4540.
