Hearts of Hospitality House Valentine Ball—Saturday
The Hearts of the Hospitality House present the 14th annual Valentine Ball to benefit the Hospitality House on Saturday, February 7, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Helen Powers Grand Hall at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center. Poor Man’s Valentine’s Supper and Dance—February 13
When times are tough, a little simplicity can go a long way, and that goes for romance, too. A Poor Man’s Valentine’s Supper and Dance will be held at the Old Cove Creek School on Friday, February 13, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. On the menu will be pinto beans, slaw, potatoes, diced onions, cornbread, tea and desserts. Todd Wright’s Valentine Evening—February 13
The sultry sounds of the saxophone are determined to make hearts swoon on Friday, February 13, when the High Country’s Ambassador of Jazz Todd Wright presents his annual Valentine Evening concert beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. Valentine’s Cookies—February 14

KidsSpace Valentine’s Day Party—February 14
KidsSpace, a children’s museum in Boone, will host a Valentine’s Day Party on Saturday, February 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. KidsSpace features arts, science, performance and classic and vintage games. The museum is designed for ages 8 to 12 but everyone will have fun. Admission is $5, and one adult per family must be present. Victoria Fischer Faw in Concert—February 14
Dr. Victoria Fischer Faw will give a piano recital at Brush Creek Hall on Saturday, February 14, at 3:00 p.m. Brush Creek Hall, home of the Highland Camerata, is located two miles south of Independence, Va., on Route 21. Valentine’s Dance with Big Country Bluegrass—February 14
If you and your partner are more likely to hit the floor and boogie than sip wine at a fancy restaurant, head to the Mountain Music Jamboree in Glendale Springs for a Valentine’s Dance on Saturday, February 14. Big Country Bluegrass and the Mountain Park Old-Time Band will perform.
A country-style buffet will be served from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., and the music lasts from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The buffet features country fried chicken, baked ham, roast beef, mashed potatoes, baked apples, green beans, buttered corn, biscuits, gravy, peach and cherry pie and drinks.
