Arboleda Presents Multimedia Performance Ethnic Man! at ASU March 4

Teja Arboleda is next to be featured in the Diversity Lecture Series at Appalachian State University. Arboleda will present a multimedia performance called Ethnic Man! on Wednesday, March 4, at 7:00 p.m. in the Blue Ridge Ballroom at the Plemmons Student Union. Admission is free.
Arboleda was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. From there, his family moved to Germany and then to Japan where he grew up. His father is Filipino-Chinese and African-American/Native American. His mother is Danish-German. Arboleda speaks Japanese, German and English. He is an Emmy Award-winning television producer, director, writer and actor.
Ethnic Man! recounts Arboleda’s discovery of race and culture in America. His energetic performance addresses the enigma of cultural, racial and ethnic identity. Using verse, slides, humor and character studies based on his life experiences, Arboleda challenges the audience to answer the question “What does it mean to be an American?”
Teja Arboleda comes from Filipino, Chinese, African American, Native American, Danish and German descent and speaks three languages. He’ll present a multimedia presentation called Ethnic Man!, recounting his discovery of race and culture in America, on Wednesday, March 4, at ASU.
Arboleda founded his company Entertaining Diversity, Inc. in 1992. Entertaining Diversity works closely with veterans and new media pioneers to teach issues of race, cultural diversity and human potential through entertainment. As a TV producer, director, writer and entertainer, Arboleda has spent 23 years creating commercial and educational programs for television and distribution, including PBS, ABC and Discovery.
As a cross-culture and diversity issues expert, Arboleda has been a keynote speaker and performance-lecturer for almost 600 educational institutions, companies and civic groups in 48 states. He appeared before a U.S. Senate committee on racial classification to testify in favor of changes in federal racial and ethnic categories.
