Boone Service League Grant Applications Due February 27

The Boone Service League, a community service organization of local women, is currently accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations for the annual Boone Service League Grants. Any eligible nonprofit organization meeting the following criteria are invited to apply.
1. Grants shall be awarded only to nonprofit organizations operating within the High Country and serving the High Country, including Watauga, Ashe and Avery counties. Nonprofits with board members or presidents who are also BSL members can still apply.
2. The total amount of money available for grants this year is $7,000. The total number of grants that will be awarded depends on the amount of money requested by applicants.
3. No award in excess of $1,000 will be made to any single organization in order to help as many organizations as possible. Monies granted may only be used for a special project. Applications requesting monies for general funds will not be accepted.
4. Organizations applying for grant money must:
A) Submit a completed application at www.BooneServiceLeague.org (click on Grant Application tab at the top of the page) by midnight on February 27, 2009.
B) Submit one reference from someone outside of the organization. This can be a BSL member as long as she is not a member of the applying organization. You do not need to submit the reference at the same time as the application, but it must be submitted by February 27, 2009.
5. Grant recipients will be notified in March 2009.
6. Grants will be presented to the recipients at the Boone Service League Fashion Show and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 4, at the Inn at Crestwood. A representative from each receiving organization must be present to receive the award.
