Friends of the Library Book Sale February 26 to 28
The Friends of the Library is hosting their annual book sale from February 26 to 28, at the Boone Mall.
The book sale will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28. On Thursday, February 26, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., the book sale is only available to Friends of the Library members.
During the sale, all kinds of material will be available for purchase, including kids paperbacks for 25 cents and hardbacks for 50 cents, as well as adult paperbacks starting at 50 cents and hardbacks starting at $1. DVDs and CDs are available for $1 per disc as well. The sale has everything from hobby books to biographies to novels of all kinds. There will be antique books and plenty of newer books in perfect condition.
If people would like to come in for the preview sale on Thursday, they don’t have to already be a member of Friends of the Library. Memberships can be purchased at the door for $5 per person, $10 for a family membership, $25 for patrons, $50 for donors and $100 for sponsors. This early sale will be a chance for people to get in before the rest of the community, but there are always plenty of gems left for the next two days as well.
The large majority of the books sold during this sale are books donated by library patrons and community members, and there is still a chance to contribute. If you’ve got old books collecting dust on the shelves at home, or if you’ve finished with a book you recently bought, bring them over to the Watauga County Library, and they will add them to the sale. The Friends do have enough magazines and encyclopedias for the time being, but anything else is fair game. They will be taking donations for the big sale at the Boone Mall until Wednesday, February 25, but later donations will go toward the ongoing book sale continuing year-round at the Watauga County Library.
