Broyhill Wind Turbine Public Information Forum March 4
The student-led ASU Renewable Energy Initiative (ASU REI) invites all community members and students to attend the Broyhill Wind Turbine Public Information Forum on Wednesday, March 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Helen A. Powers Grand Hall at the Broyhill Inn & Conference Center.
The purpose of the event is to present the details of the community-scale 100-kilowatt wind turbine to be installed on the grounds of the Broyhill Inn & Conference Center. The machine will generate clean, renewable energy and will feed the energy produced directly into the electrical grid.
The wind turbine will be the largest in North Carolina and will serve as a demonstration project for all community members in the High Country. The project was conceived and designed by the student-led ASU REI. Funding for this project comes from student fees that are voluntarily pledged to the ASU REI so that renewable energy projects may be placed on the ASU campus. New River Light & Power is contributing funds to the project.
Installation is set to begin on April 1.
The event on March 4 will consist of a half-hour project presentation by the ASU REI, followed by brief comments from ASU administration and select wind energy experts. The program will conclude with a one-hour open discussion forum where community members can ask questions about the project. The open forum will cover information specifically about the Broyhill wind turbine project and wind energy in general.
Light refreshments will be served.
