Relay For Life Hosts 2009 Celebration and Kick Off March 9

If you feel like you can’t go anywhere in town without seeing stickers, t-shirts, buttons and balloons with the Relay For Life logo on them, then local organizers Sharon Trivette and Glenda Hodges are doing their jobs. During the last several years, the dynamic duo has, with the unending support of the community, built Watauga County into one of the most successful Relay For Life chapters in the nation.
On Monday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m., the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Watauga County and Appalachian Regional Healthcare Systems will host its 2009 Celebration & Kick-Off at Watauga Medical Center’s auditorium. The event will include light refreshments.
The 2009 Relay Kick-Off will feature special guest speaker Dr. Jason Grayson, a cancer researcher at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem.
In addition to celebrating a new year of hope and recovery, Watauga Relay organizers will present a number of special awards to 2008 participants, as well as 2009 team captain packets.
