It Takes Two
Duos EOTO and Eymarel Team Up at Boone Saloon March 19
Since wrapping up their tenure as members of The String Cheese Incident, Michael Travis and Jason Haan have been cutting loose with their live-tronica band EOTO. The improv-only band will return to Boone Saloon on Thursday, March 19, along with Eymarel.
Thousands of fans were shocked and saddened when venerable Colorado-based jamband The String Cheese Incident (SCI) decided to hang it up in summer 2007, but its members were far from complacent when it came to carrying on with their musical lives. Since then, two of the most active members have been founding SCI drummer Michael Travis and auxiliary percussionist Jason Haan, who joined together to form EOTO.
On Thursday, March 19, EOTO will return to the High Country for a show at Boone Saloon. Wilmington electro-soul duo Eymarel will open the show.
Like SCI, EOTO’s music relies heavily on improvisation, but the similarities end there. The duo is a collaboration of live instrumentation and digital mixing and they have eagerly taken to the road delivering a totally inimitable and unforgettable live experience.
Performing in roles completely different than the ones in SCI, Hann keeps the crowds moving. Covering percussion, layering eclectic-glitchy samples, live auxiliary remixing, as well as the playing drum kit, Haan provides the rhythmic backbone for all things EOTO. Adding both blissful and edgy, tonal ambience is the multi-talented Travis. Blending bass, guitar, keyboards and hand percussion, as well as live mixing and remixing, Travis creates the spacey flavor that captures the listener’s senses.
With the raw power of live drums, the music is all created on the spot, recorded and remixed live, proving no two shows are exactly alike. While completely different from SCI, lifelong SCI fans will be drawn to the dance frenzy and originality that is EOTO.

Performing regularly in Boone since 2006, Wilmington-based duo Eymarel is a refreshing blend of head-bobbing grooves, organic improv and sultry pop and r&b melodies. Both former residents of Boone, keyboard player and vocalist Mary Frances and drummer Lee Allen’s massive live sound has been resonating with audiences all over the country. The band has shared the stage with The Spam Allstars, The Jerry Garcia Band featuring Melvin Seals, The Adam Deitch Project, the Sam Kininger Band and many others.
