Nothing But Groove

Victor Wooten and J.D. Blair Bring 2 Minds 1 Groove Tour To Legends March 19

Super bassist Victor Wooten and renowned drummer J.B. Blair will perform at Legends on Thursday, March 19, as part of their 2 Minds 1 Groove tour. Tickets are $10 in advance for students and $12 for the general public.

Their grooves will be unstoppable. Their rhythms will be tight—locked in tighter than you can imagine. The bass will be thunderous, rumbling through the room like a massive storm of funk. And there will only be two of them.

On Thursday, March 19, world renowned bass extraordinaire Victor Wooten will team up with top-notch timekeeper J.D. “The Groove Regulator” Blair for a show at Legends in Boone. The show will start at 8:00 p.m.

Long considered one of the best electric bass players in the world, Victor Wooten has performed in Boone nearly every year for more than a decade. A founding member of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones and bassist in his family band, The Wooten Brothers, Wooten’s style has been imitated by bassists the world over. Whether giving up the funk with one of his patented slap solos or running up and down the fret board with lightning speed and magnificent melodic sensibilities, Wooten is second to none.

While his name might not instantly ring a bell, you’ve more than likely heard or seen J.D. “The Groove Regulator” Blair at work. Perhaps most recognized as the ski goggle-wearing timekeeper with pop country superstar Shania Twain, Blair’s rhythms have been present on recordings by a long list of stars including Bootsy Collins, Larry Carlton, Lyle Lovett, Yo-Yo Ma, India.Arie, CeCe Winans and many more.

Forming one of the funkiest rhythm sections on the planet, Wooten and Blair have dubbed their latest collaboration the 2 Minds 1 Groove tour. According to Blair’s website, the pair first collaborated more than a decade ago, performing alongside one another at the National Association of Music Merchants. Not surprisingly, the pair’s talents led to a series of tours and clinics.

Tickets are $10 in advance for students and $12 for the general public. Purchase advance tickets on campus at the Plemmons Student Union information desk. For more info, click to www.apps.appstate.edu.
