15th Annual Young At Art Exhibit Opens at Ashe Arts Center March 26
Since 1995, the Ashe Arts Center has proven through its annual Young At Art exhibition that you don’t have to be an old master to create quality works. On Thursday, March 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the center will be full of new pieces as it celebrates a decade and a half of young artists with the 2009 Young At Art opening.
Young At Art features a variety of mediums including paintings, drawings, sketches, sculpture, photography, mixed media works, weavings, wooden crafts and pottery. The non-juried, non-competitive exhibition is open to all students. All participants are guaranteed a spot for at least one work of art.
Ashe Arts Center Program Director Rebecca Herman is thrilled to present the students’ work in a professional setting and expects between 50 and 60 participants.
“We’ve had everything from class projects with a specific them to things from the art classes. It has a lot of variety,” said Herman. “Both children and adults enjoy it. We try to encourage all the artists to come and participate [in the opening].”
The March 26 opening will be a wonderful opportunity for patrons of the arts to visit the show, meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and support young people. Many of the displayed works are for sale and bargains can be found.
The Young At Art exhibit runs through Thursday, April 30. The Ashe Arts Center is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning Saturday, April 4.
