Krispy Kreme CEO James Morgan Speaks at ASU March 26
James Morgan, president and chief executive officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, will be the speaker at the Harlan E. Boyles Distinguished CEO Lecture Series on Thursday, March 26, at ASU.
The lecture, sponsored by the Walker College of Business, begins at 2:00 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. A reception will follow at 3:15 p.m. at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center. The lecture and reception are open to the public.

Krispy Kreme was founded in 1937. The company produces more than 1.3 billion doughnuts each year. Established and still headquartered in Winston-Salem, Krispy Kreme retail stores are in approximately 500 locations around the world, including locations in 15 countries.
Morgan was appointed as the company’s president and chief executive officer in January 2008, having previously served as a member and chairman of Krispy Kreme’s board of directors.
Prior to joining Krispy Kreme, Morgan was chairman and chief executive officer of Wachovia Securities following the acquisition of Interstate/Johnson Lane Inc. by Wachovia Corporation. Before Wachovia Corporation acquired the company, Morgan served as chairman and chief executive officer of Interstate/Johnson Lane, Inc.
Morgan is a past president of the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association and recently served on Vanderbilt’s Board of Trustees. He has served as chairman of the board for the Metro YMCA of Charlotte and is a past chairman of the Carolina Youth Commission.
He currently serves on the board of directors of Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated. He is a past member of the Securities Industry Association Board of Directors and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) regional firms committee.
Morgan is a 1969 graduate of Vanderbilt University. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy prior to beginning his business career.
