The Children’s Playhouse Baby Fair and Consignment Sale March 27 and 28
Volunteers for The Children’s Playhouse are hard at work organizing their annual spring event, the 4th annual Playhouse Baby Fair and Sale, which will be held March 27 and 28 at the National Guard Armory in Boone.
“This year it will be bigger and better than ever,” said Playhouse board member Lisa Norris. “We will we have everything families love: two days of quality consignment and bargain rummage sales, plus a Saturday packed with food, information and fun, free kids activities.”
Playhouse Executive Director Kathy Parham urges people to start sorting and tagging for the Playhouse sale.
“Consigners get 60 percent at the sale,” she said, “and the other 40 percent is a tax-deductible donation to The Children’s Playhouse.”
Consigners can click to www.goPlayhouse.org for tagging guidelines and registration form, or pick one up at The Children’s Playhouse, located at 400 Tracy Circle in Boone.
Parham stressed that this will be a great opportunity for families to get good deals on quality clothes and toys, for people to make money for items they no long need and for The Playhouse—the High Country’s only nonprofit indoor play space for families—to get much needed financial support.
“It’s great for everyone—even the environment, since we are keeping outgrown items out of the landfill,” points out Norris.
All sizes of children’s clothing, toys, household items and furniture are accepted.
Parham said, “Basically anything family oriented in very good to excellent condition will be there. We also sell furniture and high quality household items.”
Parham described great finds at past sales such as antique china cabinets or an aquarium with all the accessories.
“We could have sold that aquarium five times over; several people were sorry they didn’t snatch it up,” she added.
Consigners tag their items per instructions, drop them off and then the items are sold at the sale. Consignments will be accepted at the Armory on Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26. Consigners get free admission to a consigner’s presale and to the Early Bird Sale on March 27. If not a consigner, admission to the Early Bird Sale will be $5 per person while Saturday’s festivities will be free.
“We also know that some people would rather not bother tagging their items; they just want to de-clutter and help The Playhouse,” said volunteer Leigh Reid. “So they can drop off their donations now at The Playhouse and volunteers will sort and price and the Playhouse will get the proceeds.”
Donations are accepted at The Playhouse whenever the museum is open.
