Easter Egg Hunts and Happenings
Every year, dozens of kids scramble to find candy-filled and “golden” eggs at the annual Downtown Boone Easter Egg-Stravaganza at the Jones House on King Street.
It’s that time of year again. In the High Country this spring, the Easter events are plentiful and most will be happening rain or shine. A variety of events include games and creative activities as well as the traditional Easter egg hunt.
Blowing Rock Easter Festival & Egg Hunt Saturday
Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation will host the annual Blowing Rock Easter Festival & Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Parks and Recreation Center with games and a visit from the Easter Bunny, who will be available for photos. Downtown Boone Easter Egg-Stravaganza April 4

The Downtown Boone Development Association, the Jones House Community Center and the Watauga Public Library, in conjunction with many local business sponsors, will hold the annual Easter Egg-Stravaganza on Saturday, April 4. The event begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Watauga Public Library. Storytelling, arts and crafts will entertain children until 1:45 p.m., when participants will walk in an Easter Parade/Bunny Hop to the Jones House for the Easter Egg Hunt at 2:00 p.m. Children up to the age of 10 will hunt for candy-filled eggs and “golden eggs” that can be traded for a prize from area merchants.
In case of bad weather, a Surprise Easter Egg Pull will take place at the Watauga Public Library from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A decision on the bad weather plan will be made by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event; listen to WATA for the details. For more information, call 828-262-4532.
Beech Mountain Easter Egg Hunt April 11
Beech Mountain Parks and Recreation will host an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 11, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Buckeye Recreation Center on Grassy Gap Creek Road in Beech Mountain. The hunt will be held rain or shine. Light refreshments will be served. The egg hunt is free of charge and opened to all children under 12 years of age. Be sure to bring a basket. Avery County Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt April 11
The Avery County Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 11, beginning at 12:00 p.m. The egg hunt is for children ages 3 to 10. Parents should arrive with children by 11:45 a.m. and bring an Easter basket. The Parks and Recreation office is located beside Newland Elementary School in Newland.
