Feature Photo—Open Your Hearts, Open Your Closet A Success
In February, 22 High Country Women’s Fund volunteers came together with many different donors and agency partners to host Open Your Hearts, Open Your Closet at the Hunger and Health Coalition’s Professional Women’s Clothing Closet. The event included a massive cleaning and reorganization of the existing closet and collection of gently used and new professional clothing.Fifteen local women attended the event, some spending upwards of two hours finding clothing for school, work and interviews. These women came from all walks of life, including a mom attending the ASU College of Business, job seekers, food service employees, Spanish-speaking families and women working to obtain their GED. The Children’s Council staffed a play area for 11 children to enjoy while their mothers shopped and tried on clothing.
Door prizes included a Harris Teeter gift card, jewelry, a Blockbuster movie night with popcorn, spa relaxation kits, a picnic/hiking backpack, note card and journal kit, colorful leather purse and hiking boots.
