Watauga Relay For Life Springs Into Action With April Fundraising Events

While many teams are still in the planning stages for the fundraisers that will take place throughout the spring and into early summer, some Relay For Life events are fast approaching.
On Sunday, April 18, Relay For Life team Jerry’s Intimidators invite area runners and walkers to participate in the Relay For Life Spring Thaw 5K Road Race. The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. on the Greenway Trail in Boone. Entry fee is $15 or $40 per family (limit three persons). Both rates increase by $5 after April 8. To register or for more info, contact Paula War by phone at 828-297-4876 or email wardpy@appstate.edu. Registration is also available by clicking to www.appstate.edu/~wardpy.
On Saturday, April 25, Relay For Life team Howard’s Creek Searchers will hold a yard sale at Howard’s Creek Baptist Church from 8:00 a.m. to noon. For more information, contact team captain Sandy Jones at 828-264-9295.
It’s not too late for those who still want to form Relay For Life teams. Interested parties should call Team Recruitment Chair Sue Tilson at 828-264-2558 or attend the Relay For Life meeting at the Watauga Medical Center Auditorium on Monday, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will include an expo with tables set up detailing the many programs and services offered by the American Cancer Society thanks to funding provided by Relay For Life.
