Feature Photo—Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition Announces 2009 Awards
Valle Crucis resident and photographer Eric Heistand poses with his award-winning shot titled “Splash or Trash.” The photo, which depicts a scene at area swimming hole Trash Can Falls, won both Best in Show and People’s Choice Awards during last week’s Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition (AMPC). Heistand also took first prize in the Adventure category. Other AMPC winners include Scott Brown (Blue Ridge Parkway Share the Journey), Jessica Maceda (Flora and Fauna), Dale King (BRP Vistas), Hallie Hochman (Culture), Jesse Hawk (Environment) and Jeffery Stoner (Landscape).
