Watauga High School To Host Annual Mr. WHS Pageant April 25
Students Hope to Top $40,000 Fundraising Goal
On Saturday, April 25, the fairer sex will give up the stage to approximately 30 of Watauga High School’s best and brightest young men as they compete in the Mr. WHS pageant. The annual all-male beauty pageant is one of the school’s most successful fundraisers and helps collect money for local families in need.
According to WHS student Austin Harbison, the Mr. WHS Pageant started as a fundraiser for former Watauga swim coach Lan O’Laughlin. Over the years, the event has consistently grown from raising $4,000 during its first year to bringing in more than $40,000. Harbinson said students at Watauga High would like to exceed that number this year in order to sponsor five families in the community.
WHS senior Celeste Caton is in charge of this year’s pageant. The event will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the Watauga High School Auditorium. Tickets are on sale for $15 each, but students will gladly accept donations of any size.
In addition to buying tickets or contributing directly, local citizens can help raise money for the Mr. WHS pageant by clicking to charity website www.GoodSearch.com. Every time you use GoodSearch.com to search the Internet, the site donates a small sum to the nonprofit organization of your choice.
