High Country and ASU Chapters of Ducks Unlimited Team Up for Fundraiser April 24

The High Country Ducks Unlimited and ASU’s Ducks Unlimited chapters are supporting the conservation of waterfowl and wetlands with the upcoming Ducks Unlimited banquet and fundraiser at Foscoe Grandfather Community Center on Friday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m.
The banquet is casual and will feature barbecue and oysters with wine and beer choices. It will also feature live bluegrass music, as well as silent and live auctions offering artworks, guns and fishing related items for bidding. There will also be a raffle offering items such as hunting and fishing trips as prizes. The money raised will support general Ducks Unlimited projects.
An example of the work of Ducks Unlimited in this area is that several hundreds of acres are in negotiations to be earmarked and passed as conservation land extending along Johns River.
“The success of this project is of great importance to the High Country and its community,” said Scott and Dottie Farfone.
This is the 3rd annual spring banquet and fundraiser, which began when Dottie and Scott moved from Charleston, S.C., in 2005 and became owners of the area’s first and only Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing guide service in the High Country. Shortly after moving, they reorganized the High Country Ducks Unlimited chapter.
Conservation of waterfowl and their habitat is an important step in Dottie’s and Scott’s business plan. With grassland and wetlands disappearing at an astonishing rate, it leaves fewer places for the waterfowl to call home. Even though the main focus of this company is guided fishing trips, fishing schools and fishing equipment, the love for the High Country and its game lands inspire support for this cause.
Ducks Unlimited is an organization determined to blaze the path for conservation of waterfowl and wetlands. It is important to state that Ducks Unlimited is not focused on duck hunting alone. It is the organization’s mission to conserve and restore wetlands. Fish, waterfowl and surrounding wildlife are all connected to one another’s success making this mission multi-layered.
