Art Crawl Presents Possum Jenkins at Boone Saloon May 1
The Downtown Boone Development Association’s Art Crawl Presents music series will feature Possum Jenkins at Boone Saloon on Friday, May 1. On Friday May 1, the Downtown Boone Development Association will continue its monthly Art Crawl Presents live music series with a performance by local alt. country and Americana band Possum Jenkins at Boone Saloon. The show will start at 10:30 p.m. There will be a $5 cover at the door.
Art Crawl Presents concerts take place on the first Friday of each month in conjunction with the Downtown Boone Art Crawl. The DBDA and Mountain Fountain Productions sponsor the series.
Formed in 2004 during their final year at ASU, Possum Jenkins has toiled and triumphed in bars, clubs and at festivals across their home state while also venturing into South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Since then, the band has shared stages with Shooter Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver, Tift Merritt, The North Mississippi Allstars and The Coal Men, among others.
With three of Possum Jenkins’ five members sharing guitar, drumming and lead vocalist duties, versatility is easily the band’s greatest musical asset as they conjure a sonic Southern recipe of simple but effective melodies married to boundless, off-the-rails energy, routinely earning the band new fans in every town.
Over the course of their three releases, Possum Jenkins has continued to zero in on a sound that seamlessly incorporates strains of the timeless mountain music of Appalachia, the talented country songwriters of East Nashville and Austin, a pinch of Memphis soul and a helping of unabashed Southern rock.
