Semifinal Match-Ups Set For HayesGrass May 4 and 5
Lenoir-based quartet High Grass (pictured), along with Diana & Sarvis Ridge, the John T. Woodall Band and Creekside Grass, all advanced to the HayesGrass semifinals on Monday and Tuesday, May 4 and 5.
The picking has been fast, the harmonies have been tight and audiences have been cheering during the first four HayesGrass quarterfinal concerts at the Hayes Center in Blowing Rock. The dust has settled and the field has been cut in half in preparation for the semifinal concerts on Monday and Tuesday, May 4 and 5.
For the first semifinal on Monday, May 4, last year’s HayesGrass runners-up Diana & Sarvis Ridge will compete against the John T. Woodall band, who’s one-vote victory over the Moore Brothers was the smallest margin in competition history.
On Tuesday, May 5, Lenoir-based quartet High Grass will return to the stage to take on veteran area pickers Creekside Grass.
Winners of each semifinal concert will advance to compete in the HayesGrass finals on Friday, May 15. The winning band will win an opening slot for the following night’s performance by bluegrass legends the Lonesome River Band at the Hayes Center.
Tickets to each semifinal concert are $10. Purchase tickets online by clicking to www.hayescenter.org or call 828-295-9627.
