Spring Fling Fundraiser for Sudan Relief Efforts at ASU April 24
A fundraiser for a Sudanese relief project will be held Friday, April 24, from 1:00 to 7:30 p.m. on the Duck Pond Field at ASU.
The APPS Special Events Council, Division of Student Programs, ACT, Newland Residence Hall at ASU and the WhytheWoods nonprofit organization sponsor the event, which is called Spring Fling.
Admission is $3 if purchased in advance at the information desk in ASU’s Plemmons Student Union and $5 at the event.
The family friendly event will feature inflatable games, carnival activities, live music and more. Food Services from ASU will sell barbecue beginning at 5:30 p.m.
All proceeds will be used to support WhytheWoods—www.whythewoods.com—a nonprofit organization founded by ASU student Billy Riddle. The nonprofit will dig two freshwater wells, run a six-month sanitation education program, help construct a nursery and primary school and begin a teacher-training program in the village of Wadupe. A project in Kichama will help construct a nursery and primary school and support a teacher-training program.
Riddle, a senior English major, founded WhytheWoods after twice traveling to Sudan with another relief agency. A first-person account of his experiences can be found online by clicking to www.today.appstate.edu/riddle/.
