MEISA Hosts 3rd Annual Music Festival at Geno’s Friday
Hip-hop funk crew BPL, along with Major Magick, Groovenauts and Doc Aquatic will take the stage at Geno’s this Friday, May 1, during the 3rd annual MEISA Music Festival.
This Friday, ASU’s Music and Entertainment Industry Students Association (MEISA) will host the 3rd annual MEISA Music Festival at Geno’s in Boone. The event, which is co-sponsored by ASU’s Split Rail Records and campus radio station WASU, will feature performances from Split Rail recording artists Major Magick, along with local acts BPL, Groovenauts and Doc Aquatic. Local DJ Lightsout will spin records beginning at 7:00 p.m. and will provide music between sets, which will begin at 8:00 p.m.
ASU student and MEISA President Dan Millice said that while the two previous MEISA Music Fests were both battles of the bands, this year’s event would focus on the music without the competition.
“We’re just going to throw down and have a huge party at the end of the semester and try to get some people to come out,” said Millice. “It’s not a competition this year—just a good, old-fashioned party.”
As with last year’s show, event co-sponsors WASU will be on hand giving away lots of merchandise including cozies, CDs, stickers and more. This Friday at 5:00 p.m., WASU will begin its on-air MEISA Music Festival countdown featuring music from participating artists.
According to Millice, those who want to party the night away without the worry of getting home can take advantage of discounted room rates at High Country Inn. Music lovers can get rooms for $49 for the night of the show by mentioning MEISA while making their reservation.
MEISA is a national organization dedicated to giving students the opportunity to gain experience and network with industry professionals. MEISA facilitates activities and events on a local, regional and national scale, encouraging all who are interested in the music and entertainment industry to take part in its benefits.
