Tweetsie Railroad Opens Friday
Wild West Adventure Park Begins 52nd Season May 1

Tweetsie Railroad, North Carolina’s original amusement park, is celebrating its 52nd year of Wild West-themed fun as it kicks off the season on Friday, May 1. The park will open only on weekends until Friday, May 22, when it will begin regular season operating hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week, until once again returning to a weekend schedule from Sunday, August 23, to Sunday, November 1. Daily admission to the park is $30 for adults, $22 for children 12 and under and free for children 2 and under. Pricing discounts are available for parties of 20 or more people.
“We have been a tradition in North Carolina for creating family memories in the park, and we have a lot of new events this year, such as a Day Out with Thomas,” said Cathy Robbins, public relations director for Tweetsie Railroad.
The new events include visits from beloved children stars Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go and Barney. There will also be visits from old favorites, such as Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder. On these special Saturdays the park will open an hour early at 8:00 a.m.
The heart of the park is a three-mile train ride behind Tweetsie Railroad’s historic locomotives. Families can also expect the traditional rides, live shows and other amusements that have made Tweetsie Railroad a family fun spot for more than 50 years.
The park will also feature educational tools for kids including Letterland, the United Kingdom’s best-selling alphabet book. During Letterland the park will be transformed and the letters will come to life. Visitors of the park can expect to spend the day walking the dusty streets of the Old West town as they learn about the past lives of cowboys and Indians.
Other park activities include live entertainment from Diamond Lil’s Can-Can Revue, Hooper and Porter’s Musical Celebration and the joyful rhythms of Tweetsie’s Country Clogging Jamboree.
