Avery YO! Seeks Donations for End of Grade Breakfast Bag Items
Last year, 85 Earth Fare bags were delivered to after school students. This year, Avery YO! seeks to fill 200.
For the second year in a row, Avery YO! is delivering breakfast bags to students involved in the program. The bags will be distributed before students begin end of grade testing for the school year. The purpose of the breakfast bags is to remind students to eat a healthy breakfast each day. The bags also compliment the lessons learned from the Youth Expanded Food and Nutrition Program, of which each Avery YO! site is a graduate.
Included in the bags will be free information for parents and students regarding healthy eating and relaxation techniques as they prepare for a week of testing.
Avery YO! is seeking donations from local businesses, foundations and community members wanting to contribute money and pre-packaged food items in order to ensure breakfast bags travel home with each student in the program.
Earth Fare has donated 200 reusable bags and 200 coupons for $5 off of Earth Fare food to the cause.
Avery YO! currently seeks donations of individualized oatmeal, granola bars, cereals, bagels and fruit juice. You may also make a monetary contribution towards the cause. Call Jenna Crawley or Bobbie Willard at 828-737-0057 for further information regarding the breakfast bag donations.
