Backpacker Magazine’s Get Out More Team To Visit Mast Store Annex

The 9th annual Get Out More Tour brings the pages of Backpacker Magazine to life as Randy and Sheri Propster share tips for the trail, gear suggestions and even menus to make meals on the trail nutritious and tasty. The team will make a formal presentation at the Mast Store Annex at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24.

Randy and Sheri met as college freshmen and have been a team for the last 13 years. Their experiences include thru-hiking the of the American Discovery Trail and facilitating life enhancing confidence and team building techniques for Navy Pilots while working at the Outdoor Adventure Center on the Navy’s Dam Neck Base located in Virginia Beach. The duo will share their trail-tested tips and will also answer your questions about planning your outdoor adventures so you can get out more. In addition to the presentation, there will be many opportunities for door prizes.

A representative of SPOT Satellite Messenger will be on hand to explain this new technology with allows you to share your trail position for others and to call for help should an emergency arrive.

Adventuresome guests can learn the basics of rock climbing from the staff of River and Earth Adventures, a Boone and Valle Crucis-based outfitter. They will have their mobile climbing wall at the Annex to demonstrate safety and climbing techniques. You can try them, too.
