The Todd Ruritan Club recently awarded the Ruby A. Trivette Scholarship to Joseph Houck, a Todd resident and senior at Ashe County High School who plans to attend Appalachian State University to major in film studies. The $1,000 Ruby A. Trivette Scholarship has been awarded in her name since 2000. Trivette is a retired schoolteacher, a charter member of the Todd Ruritan Club and an active member of the Todd Volunteer Fire Department and of South Fork Baptist Church.
The Todd Ruritan Club is looking for new members, Stevens said. The club gathers for a covered dish meal and meeting every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the South Fork Baptist Church fellowship hall. Anyone is welcome. For more information, call 828-964-1362. Photo submitted
