High Country Hospice Hosts Spring Volunteer Training May 26-28, June 2-4
High Country Health Care System Hospice will hold a spring volunteer training on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 26, 27 and 28, and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 2, 3 and 4 at the High Country Hospice office in Boone. To make it easier for people to work the training into their schedules, the training will offer morning sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and night sessions from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to make home visits, help in the office and with fundraising events, and provide respite for caregivers.
“Volunteers make such a difference in the lives of our patients and families,” said Janet Trivett, volunteer coordinator for the High Country Hospice Watauga office, “but working with the Hospice families gives the volunteer even more satisfaction.”
Hospice volunteers, except those involved in fundraising, are required to have 12 hours of training. The training teaches volunteers about the different aspects of Hospice and prepares them for the different roles they make take as volunteers.
For more than 25 years Hospice has provided Watauga County with choices, relief from pain and eased worries. High Country Health Care System Hospice serves Watauga, Ashe and Alleghany Counties.
