This Week in Free Music
Once again, free music season is descending upon the High Country. Beginning this Friday, concerts featuring all kinds of music will take place each week in various locales throughout the High Country and will run through the fall. It’s time to get out and enjoy great live tunes performed by some of the area’s finest musicians while reveling in the cool evenings that can only be experienced during a summer in the Blue Ridge.
Each week throughout the summer, the weekly free music update provided by High Country Press will let you know who’s playing where and what kind of great music you can expect. While there is only a pair of entries this week, descriptions for each series will be added weekly as they begin, so check back each Thursday and inject your weekends with a dose of free live music.

5/22 Randy & Deborah Jean Sheets
Performing together for more than a decade, Bethel residents and husband-and-wife duo Randy and Deborah Jean Sheets have taken their love of old-time string music to stages, radio programs and festivals all over Western North Carolina and far beyond. The pair recorded their latest disc with daughter Kelly and friends Rick Stone, John Kirby, Rick Moore, Dale Morris and Mike Gayheart. The CD features five strong original tunes ranging from songs that directly address social and political issues, as well as pastoral odes to the Blue Ridge, all sung with tight, family harmonies.
