WAMY Launches Website Donation Tool
WAMY Community Action is announcing the completion of its new website and donation tool, which can be found by clicking to www.wamycommunityaction.org. At the site, people will find information on all of WAMY’s programs focused on self-reliance, as well as information about its history, administration, board of directors and community resources. The website also features a secure online donation tool, allowing anyone the ability to make a difference in the community with the click of a button.
“We are really excited about our new website and the capabilities it gives us to accept donations online,” said Lisa Redman, development director of WAMY. “It took a long time to get it up and running and we are more than pleased with the results.”
The donations received will assist in the various programs that WAMY facilitates. For example:
*A donation of $20 could be used for WAMY’s Weatherization Program. The donation could buy weather stripping, a can of expandable foam and 2 compact florescent light bulbs, all of which would be implemented to increase the warmth and energy efficiency of lower income households, thus permanently reducing their energy costs.
* A donation of $100 could be used for WAMY’s Self-Sufficiency Program. The funds could be used to help a client wishing to further their education buy books for one semester of college.
* A donation of $300 could be used for WAMY’s Avery Amigos Program. The funds may be implemented to assist a family with a utility bill, and give them one trip to the grocery store.
*A donation of $1,800 could provide one at-risk youth with a scholarship to attend WAMY’s Avery YO! afterschool program for one year.
WAMY Community Action is a nonprofit organization that provides services, awareness, solutions and empowerment to individuals and families from disadvantaged circumstances in Watauga, Avery, Mitchell and Yancey (WAMY) counties.
