12 Annual MusicFest ‘N Sugar Grove Less Than One Month Away
Headliners for the 12th annual MusicFest ‘N Sugar Grove include Doc Watson, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the Kruger Brothers and Steep Canyon Rangers.
The excitement is building as the 12th annual MusicFest ‘N Sugar Grove is less than one month away.
This year’s headliners include Doc Watson, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the Kruger Brothers and Steep Canyon Rangers. Watson is a bluegrass legend, and draws crowds from all over the nation. The Kruger Brothers, a trio originally from Switzerland, combines traditional and contemporary musical styles to create a unique and beautiful sound. The Steep Canyon Rangers, a group from Asheville, have an extensive resume of awards and honors such as being named Emerging Artist of the Year in 2006, being featured on the Grand Ole Opry and playing at numerous music festivals all over the world. The Carolina Chocolate Drops, a crowd favorite, have chosen MusicFest as the only place they will play this summer until October.
Along with the headliners the festival will feature many other astounding artists and groups including Lost Ridge Band, Southern Accent, Andy Owens Band, Amantha Mill, the Forget Me Nots and many more.
This year’s festival takes place on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11 at the Historic Cove Creek School, located in Sugar Grove. MusicFest is taking green initiatives by implementing Southern Exposure’s Solar Stage, as well as having recycling at the festival. Children from the Day School, beside the old school, are pitching in by selling Capri Sun drinks. They plan on turning the empty drinks back in to raise educational funds. Not only will a portion of the proceeds from the festival go to the Doc and Rosalee Watson Scholarship Fund, but admission funds will also help festival organizers maintain and preserve the Historic Cove Creek School while nurturing the local mountain music heritage. Besides the good music and family fun, the Kruger Brothers will be hosting musician workshops in guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass. Internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Andy Owens will also be hosting a Songwriter’s Showcase. The festival will be held rain or shine.
