Asheville Lyric Opera at Hayes Center Sunday
The Asheville Lyric Opera will perform at the Hayes Center in Blowing Rock on Sunday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m.
Featuring opera, Broadway and jazz music performed by incredible singers from around the country, the Asheville Lyric Opera will perform a Father’s Day concert on Sunday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock.
The Hayes Center will help celebrate all fathers with a coupon for one complimentary beverage.
The Asheville Lyric Opera ensemble for this performance will be comprised of nationally and internationally experienced singers performing solos, duets and ensembles in English as well as other languages. Artists Collette Boudreaux (soprano), Kevin Doherty (baritone), Scott Joiner (tenor), Erin Moorman (soprano) and Luis Antonio “Tony” Gonzalez (baritone) will be accompanied by piano, with several original arrangements. David Craig Starkey, Asheville Lyric Opera’s artistic director, will host the evening and discuss the music being performed.
The Asheville Lyric Opera program includes works by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Rodgers and Bernstein.
As the name suggests, the Asheville Lyric Opera’s repertoire includes a variety of opera styles. From the light operatic comedy of Bel Canto Opera to the high drama of classic Verdi opera, the company encompasses a range of artistry. Whether experiencing the adorable characters in The Elixir of Love or the raw emotion of La Traviata, audiences are treated to professional, high-quality entertainment. Past performances have included acclaimed international guest artists who have performed extensively in the United States and abroad, as well as local singers who have taken on secondary principal roles as the company continues to develop and encourage their talents.
