Photo by Peter MorrisFire, battles, explosions, romance, Daniel Boone, intrigue and history—what more do you want out of local entertainment? All of these elements combine for the outdoor drama experience known as Horn in the West, which begins its 58th season this Friday, June 19, at 8:00 p.m. As in years past, Horn’s opening weekend—this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 19, 20 and 21—features the Watauga Nights promotion, where citizens of Watauga County can purchase as many tickets as they wish for $6 apiece by presenting their IDs. Also during Watauga Nights, residents of any county bordering Watauga County can purchase $8 tickets. “Last year, we had the largest closing in decades [and] we would love to have the largest opening this year,” said Virginia Roseman, Horn in the West’s director of public relations. Shows for the 2009 season take place Tuesday through Sunday at 8:00 p.m. from this weekend until Saturday, August 15.
