Christmas in the Mountains Volume 3 CD Helps End Childhood Hunger in the High Country
All the proceeds from this year’s Christmas in the Mountains Volume 3 CD will fund a new initiative established by the Hunger and Health Coalition. The new initiative is called “End Childhood Hunger in the High Country” and will eliminate some of the food shortages that this economic crisis has brought to our community. Addressing the devastating impact of this crisis on children will be in the forefront of the Hunger and Health Coalition’s activities this year. They have taken steps to provide more food every month to families with children under 18.
Although the food donated by so many compassionate citizens has been very beneficial, additional food must be purchased to give families the extra food planned for by the “End Childhood Hunger in the High Country” initiative.
The Christmas in the Mountains Volume 3 CD will be available at more than 70 locations beginning in October 2009 at a cost of $10. The sales of the CD were overwhelming last year, according to organizers, and the proceeds and donations netted more than $40,000.
“We are so proud of this year’s CD. So many old friends and new performers have given of their time and talents to make this CD exceptional. As coordinator of the Christmas CD project, I want to thank all the elves that have made this year’s CD possible. It is truly a community project,” said Leslie Shavell.
With the proceeds of the Christmas in the Mountains Volume 3 CD playing a critical role in providing food to families, it is more important than ever to cover the production cost of the CD through the contributions of sponsors.
