Earth Fare Presents Rock Out for Hunger Thursday
Join Earth Fare and the Hunger and Health Coalition on Thursday, June 25 and Rock Out for Hunger.
Visit Earth Fare between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, and enjoy “Burgers for a Buck,” live music and a great time for the whole family.
Five percent of Earth Fare’s sales on Saturday will go directly to the Hunger & Health Coalition to support food assistance programs. The Hunger and Health Coalition operates five food assistance programs that provide food and other basic necessities to low-income families in Watauga County.
The economy has forced many local families to make choices between keeping food on their tables or a roof over their heads. According to Compton Fortuna, executive director of the Hunger and Health Coalition, food distribution has increased 26 percent. She expects the need to continue to grow as families struggle to meet their basic needs.
Earth Fare is a long-time supporter of the Hunger and Health Coalition, as well as many other local groups.
“Central to the mission of Earth Fare is feeding and inspiring the healthy person inside us all,” said Ashley Karen, marketing coordinator for the Boone Earth Fare location.
“Rock Out [for] Hunger is a great way to fulfill our mission and, at the same time, give back to the community.”
