86th Annual Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show Continues This Month

Hunter/Jumper Weeks Underway, July 22 to 26 and July 29 to August 2

The 86th annual Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show’s American Saddlebred Week began on June 11 and ran through June 14. Now, deep into summer, the second portion of the historic show, features two weeks of hunter/jumper action.

Already underway as of Wednesday, July 22, the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show continues on from Thursday to Sunday, July 23 to 26. With only a two-day break in the schedule, the competition picks up where it left off, beginning on Wednesday, July 29, before ending on Sunday, August 2.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. each day at the L.M. Tate Show Grounds in Blowing Rock. Admission is $5 and the ample parking is free, as are the rides in golf carts to and from your vehicle to the main ring, outside arena or wherever you may wish to be driven to on the grounds. Pack a picnic lunch or purchase meals, snacks and drinks from one of the vendors. Shop for equine-related gifts, accessories, clothing and tack at any number of the spacious booths surrounding the course.

Whether you choose to come for the entire show, for just one day, or even one afternoon, each day boasts a number of exciting classes. Some day-by-day highlights include: Thursday, $1000 JR A/O Jumper 2(c); $1000 Pony Hunter Classic, week I; Friday, USEF Medal and USEF Adult Medal; $1000 Children’s Hunter Classic; Saturday, $3500 JR/AO Jumper Prix Table II 2(a); all ages are competing throughout the day in the outside arena, from short stirrup to 51 plus, adult hunter; on Sunday, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search and the $10,000 Russell Hall Memorial NAL Speed Championship; on Sunday, week II only, $10,000 LP Tate Jumper Classic II 2(c) and the $15,000 Challenge of Champions.
