Art Cellar Features Dunlap Family, Norma Murphy Friday and Saturday

The Art Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk welcomes the Dunlap family (from left, William Dunlap, Maggie Dunlap and Linda Burgess) for a gallery talk from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24.

The Art Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk features a busy schedule of arts events this weekend, beginning Friday, July 24, with a gallery talk and book signing with the Dunlap family from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

A month-long exhibition of new work by artists William Dunlap, Linda Burgess and Maggie Dunlap opened July 20 and will run through Saturday, August 15. William Dunlap and Linda Burgess are nationally acclaimed artists working in oils and mixed media on paper and canvas, and this show features each of their signature styles of interpreting the landscape. Their teenage daughter Maggie Dunlap, whose recent pieces in ink and graphite show the talent that enabled her to illustrate her first book at the age of 11, rounds out the show with her recent drawings.
William and Maggie Dunlap will be available to sign copies of their respective books at the gallery talk.

Renowned regional artist Norma Murphy will be featured at The Art Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk this weekend. Join her for tea and a gallery talk on Saturday, July 25, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The artistic energy continues through the weekend with the work of well-known local artist Norma Murphy. Well known for her ladies at tea and garden scenes, this weekend will feature her recent tea scenes and new floral still life on canvas and paper. As visitors enjoy the paintings and colorful collages, they will have the opportunity to meet the artist and talk with her about her inspiration and her lifelong artistic journey. Murphy will be at The Art Cellar Gallery on both Friday and Saturday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The Art Cellar Gallery is also participating in the Avery Tour De Art, which features 12 art venues across the High Country in a daylong, self-guided art tour on Saturday, July 25. A copy of the tour map is available at the Art Cellar Gallery and at other participating locations.

The Art Cellar Gallery has presented the paintings and sculptures of the finest artists in the Southeast for more than 17 years. Three floors of exhibition space are always filled with a diverse range of styles and media by both nationally recognized artists and local emerging artists, complemented by regional pottery and Southern folk art. For more information, click to www.artcellaronline.com  or call 828-899-5175.
