Mountain Greenery Field Day at Cornett’s Farm July 30
The Watauga branch of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, in conjunction with the Watauga County Christmas Tree Association, will host the 30th annual Mountain Greenery Field Day at Dale Cornett’s Carolina Fraser Fir Farm, located off Mountaindale Road in the Bethel community, on Thursday, July 30. The event begins at 1:30 and ends with a meal at 5:30 p.m.
Specialists from North Carolina State University including Dr. Jill Sidebottom, Dr. Ron Gehl and Jeff Owen will lead workshop sessions on the Elongate Hemlock Scale, on-farm tree research trials, managing groundcovers for free nitrogen and tree shearing. Event participant will earn 1.5 hours of pesticide credits during the event, including credits in the subcategories of X, L, N and O.
Nonmembers of the Watauga County Christmas Tree Association are welcome to attend, however there will be a nominal fee if staying for the catered meal. Bandana’s Barbeque will cater the event.
