Little Windows? Mark Weems and Julee Glaub sing traditional folk songs, with a special emphasis on songs from Ireland. Glaub, originally from Charlotte, moved to Ireland after finishing college at Wake Forest to work among the poor in Dublin and also to expand her musical repertoire. For seven years she learned about the people and the culture. Upon returning to the U.S., she devoted herself to music fulltime, recording two CDs and performing all across the country. In 2005 she teamed up with Weems, another lover of Celtic and traditional American music. Mark and Julee realized quickly that the harmonic blending of their vocal tones was quite unique and formed Little Windows.

Little Windows tours nationally and abroad, performing a mesmerizing blend of traditional Irish, Scottish and Appalachian song with a special focus on unaccompanied ballads. Their first recording together, released in 2006, Just Beyond Me, was submitted for a Grammy in the traditional folk category, and has been featured on NPR’s Thistle and Shamrock. Recently, Fiona Ritchie, host of Thistle and Shamrock, devoted an entire program to the music of Little Windows.

About Julee Glaub, Aidan O’Hara, from Irish Music Magazine said, “We’re all the better for hearing her, and she joins that select group about whom I say, that if I were a song, I’d want Julee Glaub to sing me.” About Mark Weems, Aidan O’Hara added, “He sings from the heart and is plainly ‘in tune’ with the tradition.”

Mountain Home Music is a concert series dedicated to honoring the music and musicians of the Appalachian region and is affiliated with the Blue Ridge Music Trails, a project of the North Carolina Arts Council.
